Dadin-Kowa Dam Fully Operational and Secure, Confirms Minister of Water Resources

Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation has assured Nigerians that the Dadin-Kowa Dam in Gombe State is fully secure and operational. In a recent statement, the Minister highlighted that the dam, which plays a crucial role in providing water and electricity to the region, is functioning efficiently and is not under any threat.
The Dadin-Kowa Dam, which was initially constructed for irrigation purposes and to generate hydroelectric power, has since become a vital resource for the people of Gombe and surrounding areas. The Minister emphasized that regular maintenance is being carried out to ensure the dam’s continued efficiency.
In response to concerns about potential damage due to weather or structural issues, the Minister reassured the public that thorough inspections and monitoring systems are in place. “We have a dedicated team of engineers and technicians who ensure that the dam remains in top condition,” the Minister said, adding that the water levels are being carefully regulated to prevent flooding and other risks.
The Dadin-Kowa Dam has contributed significantly to the local economy, providing water for irrigation to support agriculture, while also generating electricity that powers households and businesses in the region. With the current improvements, the dam continues to serve as a reliable resource for sustainable development.
Residents and stakeholders have expressed relief at the Minister’s update, noting that the security and functionality of the dam are essential for their livelihood. The Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation remains committed to ensuring that all water infrastructures, like Dadin-Kowa Dam, operate at their highest capacity for the benefit of Nigerians.
