“Davido Dreams Of Taxi Driver Role As He Sets Sights On Movie Industry”

Afrobeats superstar Davido has revealed his ambition to explore the movie industry, expressing a keen interest in playing the role of a taxi driver in a film project.

Speaking during a panel session at the Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF) titled “Rhythms of the Continent: The Afrobeat Movement and Its Impacts on African Film,” the multi-award-winning singer shared his enthusiasm for film production and his desire to collaborate with African filmmakers.

According to reports from Ireporter Online, Davido disclosed that his brother had promised him a movie role, but he requested something unusual—like portraying a taxi driver. “My brother was saying he was going to give me a role. I told him I wanted to do a role that would be shot by a taxi driver or something—like something out of the blue. He has to figure that out. So I definitely want to get involved in movies,” Davido stated.

The Unavailable crooner also cited global music and film icons such as 50 Cent as major influences, noting that he hopes to follow a similar path by merging music with visual storytelling.

Davido added that his goal is to produce genuine African narratives that resonate with audiences, taking inspiration from international productions like Uncorked.
