Deadly Raid: Nigerian Army Eliminates Scores Of IPOB Members, Recovers Arms And IEDs

According to a statement released via the Nigerian Army Headquarters’ Facebook page on Monday, the operation, codenamed Operation Udo Ka, was conducted along the Ekeututu–Ihiteunansa Road in the Orsu Local Government Area.
“During the mission, troops engaged suspected IPOB/ESN operatives, resulting in the neutralization of several members,” the statement read. The raid also led to the recovery of weapons, including pump-action guns, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), materials for making IEDs, and various charms.
Lieutenant General OO Oluyede, the Acting Chief of Army Staff, commended the troops for their bravery and urged them to continue dismantling criminal hideouts. He reassured the residents of the South East that the military remains committed to their safety, encouraging them to go about their daily lives without fear.
In response to the ongoing unrest in the region, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, legal counsel to IPOB, has called for unity and peace among the people of the South East. Ejiofor criticized the continued reliance on violence and fraud by some elements, describing it as counterproductive to genuine liberation efforts.
“It is time for reflection and reconciliation. True struggles for justice must reject criminality and violence as strategies,” Ejiofor said during a press briefing in Owerri.
He added that the marginalization of Ndi Igbo within Nigeria’s political framework is undeniable but emphasized that lasting freedom can only be achieved through peaceful and lawful means.
This development comes just days after the arrest of Simon Ekpa, the self-proclaimed Prime Minister of the Biafra Republic Government in Exile, sparking renewed discussions about insecurity in the South East.
