Defence Headquarters Vows To Sustain Military Presence Until Perpetrators Of Okuama Attack Are Apprehended

Major General Jamal Abdussalam, the General Officer Commanding the 6 Division, Nigerian Army/Land Component Commander of the Joint Task Force, South-South, Operation DELTA SAFE, reiterated the army’s dedication to the mission during a condolence visit by Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Niger Delta Development Commission.

The visit, which took place at the division’s headquarters in Port Harcourt Barracks, emphasized the military’s resolve to remain in the creeks until all stolen weapons are recovered, and all perpetrators involved in the heinous acts are brought to justice.

Abdussalam assured that the operations would be conducted with firmness, strength, decisiveness, and professionalism, reflecting the gravity of the situation and the need for justice for the fallen soldiers and civilians.

The Defence Headquarters has initiated a comprehensive response to the incident in Okuama community, underscoring the challenges in securing volatile regions and the military’s determination to restore peace and order.

Abdussalam reiterated the troops’ commitment to achieving their objectives, emphasizing that no amount of propaganda or intimidation would deter them from their course.

He urged the public to assist the military in locating the fleeing suspects and the stolen weapons, emphasizing the importance of credible intelligence in apprehending the criminals.

While calling for calm and support from stakeholders, Abdussalam assured that the armed forces would not rest until all those involved are brought to justice, ensuring that such acts of criminality do not recur.

Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, while commiserating with the GOC, emphasized the importance of peace and security in fostering development in the Niger Delta region.
