Mr. Dangiwa explained that this housing project is part of the Renewed Hope Cities and Estates Programme initiated by the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development. Launched by President Bola Tinubu in February, the program aims to provide affordable housing for Nigerians.

“This initiative aligns with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, designed to stimulate inclusive growth, lift 100 million Nigerians out of poverty, and build a $1 trillion economy,” Dangiwa stated.

The project, funded by the N50 billion 2023 Supplementary Budget approved by President Tinubu, ensures sustainability, quality, and geographical spread. The 250 housing units will consist of 50 one-bedroom semi-detached bungalows, 150 two-bedroom semi-detached bungalows, and 50 three-bedroom semi-detached bungalows.

Dangiwa highlighted that these housing units are designed to be affordable, featuring organic designs that allow for future expansion as the beneficiaries’ incomes increase.

“Today’s ceremony in Delta is a continuation of the nationwide groundbreaking exercise for housing projects under the Renewed Hope Cities and Estates Programme. This housing initiative aims to unlock the massive potential of housing development to create jobs, uplift lives, and boost economic development,” Dangiwa added.

The minister urged contractors to adhere to specifications and expressed optimism that the project would create over 6,500 jobs across various trades.
