Deputy-Spokesman Credits Abbas’ Leadership-Style For Success Of 10th-Reps (Details)
Hon. Philip Agbese, Deputy Spokesman of the House of Representatives, attributes the House’s numerous achievements to the exceptional leadership of Speaker Tajudeen Abbas. In a recent media chat marking the first anniversary of the House, Agbese lauded Abbas’ visionary leadership, which he credited for the Green Chamber’s landmark legislative feats.
Agbese highlighted Speaker Abbas’ efforts in fostering unity and inclusivity among lawmakers, emphasizing that under his leadership, the House has become a beacon of hope for Nigerians and a symbol of collective effort and dedication.
“His leadership style is a testament to the power of collaborative leadership, and we are proud to be part of his team,” Agbese affirmed. He commended the Speaker’s engagement with stakeholders from civil society, the private sector, and the executive arm of government.
Speaking further on Abbas’ leadership qualities, Agbese noted, “The Speaker has promoted gender equality, youth empowerment, and transparency in governance. His qualities as a listening leader with a sense of fairness and commitment to the well-being of Nigerians are rare and commendable.”
Under Abbas’ stewardship, the House has passed significant legislation including the Electricity Act (Amendment) Bill, Economic Diversification Bill, National Health Insurance Act, and Education Reform Bill. “In the first six months alone, 120 bills passed the second reading stage,” Agbese added, highlighting the bills’ contributions to addressing societal challenges and fostering development.
“The bills have far-reaching implications for Nigeria’s economic growth, healthcare development, and education sector,” Agbese explained. For instance, the Electricity Act (Amendment) Bill aims to address environmental concerns and allocate funds for host community development.
Agbese concluded by praising Speaker Abbas’ fairness, humility, and dedication, which have earned him respect among colleagues, stakeholders, and the Nigerian public. “His leadership style of openness, inclusivity, and willingness to listen sets a precedent for the House as we aim for even greater achievements,” he affirmed.
