According to Ireporter Online, the Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has issued a stern warning to members of the State Executive Council against disloyalty, internal conflict, and unauthorized disclosure of government information. The caution came during the 38th Executive Council meeting with cabinet members.

Governor Yusuf urged council members to uphold the principles and objectives of the government, stressing the need for collaboration to advance Kano’s development and improve the welfare of its citizens. He stated, “The era of rancour, the era of disloyalty, the era of leaking information, the era of coming in between one another is over.”

On the recent defection of himself and other key political figures to the All Progressives Congress (APC), Yusuf described the decision as being in the best interests of the state. He emphasized that the move was made in consultation with executive council members, state and national lawmakers, local government chairpersons, and other political stakeholders.

Highlighting the need for economic and infrastructural progress, the Governor called for support and cooperation from the central government. He confirmed that five commissioners resigned following the political realignment with the APC and noted that their resignations had been accepted.

Governor Yusuf also acknowledged the support provided by the Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Progressive Governors Forum following recent fire incidents at Kano’s Singer market, which destroyed goods valued at billions of naira.

Additionally, he confirmed the appointment of Bilkisu Shehu Maimota as acting Head of Service, following the removal of her predecessor, urging her to promote discipline, unity, and professionalism within the state civil service.
