Doyin Okupe Reacts As Court Jails Him For Money Laundering
Doyin Okupe, Director-General of Peter Obi’s Presidential Campaign Council, has reacted to his conviction for money laundering by an Abuja High Court.
Okupe was convicted on 26 of the 59 counts brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu ruled that the 26 counts, each carrying a two-year prison sentence, would be heard concurrently.

Ojukwu, on the other hand, offered a N500,000 fine in each of the counts, for a total of N13 million, which must be paid by Monday at 4:30 p.m.
If Okupe fails to meet the option of fine within the time frame, she ruled that he should be taken to Kuje Correctional Centre to serve his prison term.
Okupe, on the other hand, paid the N13 million fine on Monday evening.
Okupe responded on his Twitter page, saying the enemies tried but failed.
He wrote, ”God is not man. The enemies have tried in so many ways but kept on failing. Victory is of God.”
