D’Prince Slams Alleged Monetised Cyberbullying In Entertainment Industry
According to Ireporter Online, Nigerian singer and music executive D’Prince has condemned what he described as the growing monetisation of cyberbullying within the entertainment industry, warning that online hostility is increasingly being turned into a business model.
He expressed concern that some podcasts and digital media platforms now rely on controversy, paid narratives, and targeted online attacks to generate revenue and engagement. D’Prince stressed that while creatives already operate under significant pressure to sustain their careers, their mental health and dignity should not be sacrificed for online attention or clout.
He further noted that the trend of coordinated digital harassment is not limited to the entertainment space but is becoming widespread across different sectors of social media. According to him, no creative should be subjected to organised hate campaigns driven by propaganda or engagement farming.
The music executive called for greater accountability, professionalism, and ethical standards in digital journalism and media practice to curb the rise of toxic online culture. While affirming the importance of free speech, he cautioned that a clear line must be drawn between harmless online banter and harmful cyberbullying, urging users to adopt empathy in their interactions.
He concluded that many individuals are silently battling personal struggles, adding that kindness should prevail over cruelty in online engagements.
