EDO 2024: SAY NO TO CONTINUITY OF FAILURE—VOTE FOR REAL CHANGE WITH SENATOR MONDAY OKPEBHOLO

As the gubernatorial election in Edo State draws closer, it’s crucial that the people of Edo take a clear-eyed look at the candidates vying for the governorship. The choice before us is stark, and the implications for our future are profound. On one side, we have Senator Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress (APC), a man of proven integrity and accomplishments. On the other side, we have Asuen Ighodalo of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), who is being quietly supported by a governor whose record of failure is impossible to ignore.

A question that has been on the lips of many Edo people is: Where is Governor Godwin Obaseki in this election? Why is he not openly campaigning for his handpicked successor, Asuen Ighodalo? The answer is simple and troubling: Obaseki knows that his dismal performance over the last eight years has made him a liability. The governor who once had the backing of the people now finds himself shunned and avoided, even by his own party.

In 2016, when Comrade Adams Oshiomhole was the governor, he campaigned vigorously for Obaseki. Oshiomhole’s record of success was evident, and the people of Edo embraced him wholeheartedly. His endorsement carried weight because he delivered results. But today, Obaseki’s silence speaks volumes. He cannot campaign for Ighodalo because he knows that his presence would do more harm than good.

Obaseki’s tenure has been marked by unfulfilled promises, stalled projects, and a growing sense of disappointment among the people. Even members of the PDP have expressed their displeasure, urging the people of Edo to forget about Obaseki’s failures and focus on Ighodalo. But can we afford to do that? Can we ignore the fact that a godfather desperately trying to impose his successor is a recipe for continued failure?

History teaches us that when a godfather imposes a candidate, it often leads to a continuity of the same bad governance that has plagued the state. Edo State cannot afford another four years of stagnation. We cannot allow Obaseki to impose another failure on us in the person of Asuen Ighodalo. The people of Edo must resist this at all costs.

Contrast this with Senator Monday Okpebholo, a man who has shown, in a short time, what true leadership looks like. As a senator, he has achieved tangible results that have positively impacted his constituency. He has delivered on his promises and has worked tirelessly to improve the lives of his people. His record speaks for itself, and it is a record of success, not failure.

Okpebholo’s approach to governance is simple: deliver results, not excuses. He is not a man of high-sounding words that amount to nothing. Instead, he is a man of action, with a clear vision for Edo State—a vision of prosperity, security, and progress for all. Unlike those who have plundered the wealth of our state for personal gain, Senator Okpebholo is committed to ensuring that the resources of Edo benefit all Edo people, not just a privileged few.

In a desperate attempt to salvage their sinking ship, the PDP and their supporters have resorted to lies and misinformation. They claim that Senator Okpebholo cannot express himself or articulate his ideas clearly. This is not only false but also laughable. Videos of Senator Okpebholo speaking eloquently and confidently on the Senate floor, as well as during his gubernatorial campaign, are widely available. His ideas are sound, his vision is clear, and his commitment to the people of Edo is undeniable.
The PDP’s smear campaign is nothing more than a distraction from their candidate’s lack of substance and their outgoing governor’s legacy of failure. They want to continue the same old politics of empty promises and self-enrichment. But the people of Edo deserve better.

Edo State stands at a crossroads. We can choose to continue down the path of failure, or we can choose real change. We can allow ourselves to be deceived by a discredited governor and his puppet candidate, or we can elect a leader who has proven his dedication to the people.
On September 21st, 2024, let us vote for the future of Edo State. Let us vote for a leader who will bring positive change, who will work for the people, and who will ensure that our state’s wealth is used for the benefit of all. Let us vote for Senator Monday Okpebholo and the APC.

The choice is clear. Let’s not miss this opportunity to make a difference. Vote for competence, vote for integrity, vote for Senator Monday Okpebholo. Together, we can build a better Edo State.
