Edo Forum Of Patriots, EFP Visits UNIBEN VC, Seeks Deeper Host Community Relations
A SPEECH DELIVERED BY THE CHAIRMAN, IMC, EDO FORUM OF PATRIOTS, (EFP), AIYAMEKHUE EDOPKOLO fcdm ON THE OCCASION OF EFP’S COURTESY VISIT TO THE VICE-CHANCELLOR OF THE UNIVERSITY OF BENIN
Protocol
Madam Vice-Chancellor, I will like to put on record that the Edo Forum of Patriots notes with delightful satisfaction, your usual high patriotism and camaraderie disposition towards its core values and overall objectives. This you have again demonstrated by making allowance for this courtesy visit to happen, within a short space of time of its request. Thank you Madam.
Similarly, let me, on behalf of the Forum, physically congratulate you once more, for your resounding victory at the selection of candidates to the Vice Chancellor’s position last year.
Now by benefit of hindsight, it is not difficult to see what the selection panel might have seen to credit you with the first position –we dare say, deservedly! As it turns out, passionate patriotism, visionary perspicacity and agreeable humanism are premium characteristics not found easily, even in the most developed of human communities. They are found only among people of sterner stuff. It is therefore with great excitement that we find these excellent combinations in Madam Vice Chancellor.
Dialectically, we must also note that that combined phenomenon must be responsible for why you so demonstrably understand the immeasurable value to be harvested by the synergistic relationship between University overarching objectives and the purpose and pursuits organized developmental groups like the EFP. These collaborative values of strategic relationships, we will like to urge other institutions and especially the federal and state governments to more profitably exploit to finding lasting solutions to the perennial tension between the university and government in Nigeria.
Of course, this informed governance philosophy of yours naturally dovetails into the masterly administrative acumen and scintillating developmental singularity of purpose, with which you hit the VC’s job at appointment. Today it is positively famed and enviable as it should be. In that connection, we will like to congratulate you on the masterstroke strategy deployed to get the university back on progressive track, after a marginal agitation that greeted the university’s recent fee policy. For us, at the EFP, who had savoured your unimpeachable performance as the Chairperson of the Covid 19 committee, it was welcoming watching an elevation of strategic governance capabilities to higher challenges. May we seize this moment to please re- appreciate your Chairperson -ship of that Committee. Madam Vice Chancellor, this address is not intended as a catalogue of eulogies for your many milestones, but we could not help, but notice the new aesthetic profile of the university’s environment as we drove in through the gate. We can only urge you to remain focused and committed to your personal values of developmental integrity.
We thank you Madam for receiving us.
