Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has expressed his satisfaction with the “impressive performance” of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidates in the local government election held last Saturday in Edo State.

He believes that the election results demonstrate the PDP’s dominance in the state and reflect the will of the majority of Edo residents.

Speaking during the 15th memorial thanksgiving service for his late father at the Diocese of Benin (Anglican Communion), St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Obaseki praised the democratic maturity of Edo residents, highlighting the absence of violence during the election.

He commended the diligence of the Edo State Independent Electoral Commission (EDSIEC) and noted the fair voter turnout, emphasizing that the election was conducted without disrupting economic and social activities.

Obaseki also acknowledged that it is common for elections to be challenged, citing examples of electoral challenges in the United States. He characterized the local government election as free and fair and celebrated the mass participation and PDP’s dominance in the state.
