EFCC Unveils Shocking Revelations In Latest Betta Edu Investigation [Details]

This stern action follows an ongoing investigation into alleged misconduct within the agency and its various programs. The NSIPA oversees programs such as the N-Power Programme, Conditional Cash Transfer Programme, Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme, and Home Grown School Feeding Programme.

Reports emerging on Friday indicate that the initial suspension of these programs is set to last for a period of six weeks. In a statement attributed to Segun Imohiosen, the Director of Information at the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, it was highlighted that President Tinubu expressed significant concerns about operational deficiencies and irregularities in the disbursement of payments to program beneficiaries.

Former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Femi Pedro, vehemently denies statements suggesting that he urged Nigerians to give the suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu, a second chance.

Edu was suspended by President Bola Tinubu after a memo surfaced wherein she instructed the Accountant-General of the Federation, Oluwatoyin Madein, to transfer N585 million to a private account. Following her suspension, Edu faced questioning at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) headquarters regarding her actions and all financial transactions within her ministry.

In a noteworthy development, the EFCC has escalated its investigation into the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation by summoning 20 senior directors and officials for questioning.

Several of these individuals reportedly underwent interrogation at the EFCC headquarters on Thursday. This move by the EFCC follows a comprehensive investigation report and recommendations submitted by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) on Tuesday concerning the ministry.
