Reports reveal that the gun-wielding kidnappers have significantly reduced their initial ransom demand of N100m to N15m.

The heart-wrenching incident occurred on Monday when the armed abductors ambushed the school bus carrying pupils and staff to Eporo-Ekiti, on the outskirts of Emure. Subsequently, the families received a daunting demand of N100m for the release of their loved ones.

However, a source close to one of the victims’ families, who spoke on condition of anonymity, shared with Vanguard that negotiations have led to a reduction in the ransom. The source also revealed the kidnappers’ ominous threat to harm the victims if the payment is not made promptly.

In a distressing twist, the source conveyed, “Today, they call four to five times. They said the ransom is now N15m. We are currently begging them to take N4m, but they insisted they want 15m.

And that we should hasten up with the payment because the children are already weak. They even threatened to kill them if the ransom was not paid on time.”

Despite the families managing to raise N3m, it remains significantly short of the kidnappers’ revised demand. The source emphasized the urgency of the situation, expressing concern over the deteriorating condition of the abducted children and the chilling cries heard during phone conversations.

The evolving situation underscores the desperate plea for swift action and intervention to secure the safe release of the abducted pupils and staff
