Expelling Wike From PDP Pre-2027 Election Would Be A Misstep, Says PDP Chieftain

Akinniyi emphasized the significant influence wielded by Wike and his supporters, downplaying the feasibility of their expulsion from the party.

In an interview with Legit, the spokesperson of the PDP National Youth Group stressed that such a move would be akin to stepping on a “banana peel.”

Regarding the proposition to expel Wike and other members of the G5 faction before the 2027 general election, Akinniyi argued that the current state of division within the party makes it ill-timed.

He urged the PDP reconciliation committee to prioritize the party’s interests and unity in preparation for the upcoming election.

Akinniyi remarked, “At the moment, expelling anyone is a ‘banana peel.’ If the expulsion had happened before the 2023 Elections, it would probably make some sense and be understandable.”

“As it stands now, the PDP is divided, and we can’t overlook the influence of Wike and his loyalists. The reconciliation committee should bring everyone to the table again, and there should be sanctions for any actions that are against the tenets and interests of the PDP as a party henceforth,” he added.
