Fashola Urges Lagos Govt: Ease Hardship By Reducing Levies, Taxes

Speaking at the 18th Edition of the Lagos State Executive and Legislative Parley held at the Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Fashola commended Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for implementing measures to mitigate the impact of subsidy removal.

While acknowledging initiatives such as the school feeding program and transportation cost reduction, Fashola emphasized the importance of reducing levies and taxes across various sectors.

He stated, “The Lagos State government deserves commendation for its initiatives to ease the economic burden on residents. In addition to ongoing efforts, reducing levies and taxes would provide significant relief.”

Fashola highlighted past instances, such as the Ebola crisis, where suspending consumption taxes had a positive impact. He suggested similar measures to alleviate the current economic strain.

“It is crucial to enhance disposable income. Governance should prioritize balance,” Fashola emphasized.

The former governor stressed the need for wealth redistribution and support for small businesses. He proposed engaging with small business owners across senatorial districts through town hall meetings to understand their needs and provide assistance.

“We must empower people and stimulate economic activities through public works projects. Wealth redistribution is essential for equitable development,” Fashola concluded.
