Federal Government Steps In to Bridge Revenue Gap for Kano Electricity Customers

Federal Government has pledged to cover the revenue gap resulting from the difference between the cost-reflective tariffs and the actual tariffs paid by customers of the Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO). This move aims to ensure that Kano residents continue to enjoy a stable power supply without being burdened by increased costs.
The cost-reflective tariff reflects the true cost of producing and distributing electricity, but customers have been paying lower rates due to government intervention. By funding this gap, the government is helping to maintain affordable electricity for consumers, while supporting KEDCO in managing its financial operations.
This intervention highlights the Federal Government’s commitment to protecting the interests of electricity consumers, especially in the northern region. It also showcases the ongoing efforts to stabilize the power sector and ensure that distribution companies like KEDCO can meet their operational demands without placing additional financial strain on customers.
The initiative is part of broader efforts by the government to create a more sustainable and reliable energy system across Nigeria, ensuring that citizens benefit from fair pricing while supporting the growth of the electricity distribution infrastructure.
