Ambassador Isola’s last official engagement was on August 28 when he spoke at a breakfast business meeting in London. He had previously encouraged Nigerians to share positive stories about their country.
The letter from the Minister of Foreign Affairs stated, “I have the honour to notify you of Mr President’s decision to recall you, signalling the end of your tenure as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to the United Kingdom.” It further instructed Ambassador Isola to commence the process of winding down his affairs, take formal leave of the host government within sixty days, and return to Nigeria by October 31, 2023, at the latest.
Ambassador Sarafa Isola had been appointed as the High Commissioner to the UK by former President Muhammadu Buhari in January 2021.
He has previously held various government positions, including serving as Minister of Mines and Steel Development and Secretary to the State Government of Ogun State.
He also has an educational background that includes studies at Harvard University, Cambridge University, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
