The Federal Government has announced plans to build 100 housing units in each of Nigeria’s 774 local government areas, totalling 77,400 units nationwide.

This was revealed by the Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Yusuf Atta, during a political gathering in Kano on Tuesday evening. The event, hosted by the Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin, marked the defection of hundreds of New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) members to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Atta stated that Kano State, with its 44 local government areas, would receive 4,400 housing units under the programme.

“This is an impactful initiative by Mr. President to construct 100 houses in every local government across the country—amounting to 77,400 homes,” Atta said.

He added, “For Kano, with 44 LGAs, that’s 4,400 houses. This surpasses what any other state will receive.”

The minister urged both the defectors and the people of Kano State to rally behind President Bola Tinubu’s administration, noting that the housing project is a key component of the Renewed Hope Housing Agenda aimed at providing affordable homes nationwide.

Earlier at the event, Barau welcomed the new APC members, describing their decision to join the party as a “wise and progressive move.”

“I wholeheartedly welcome you to the APC, Africa’s largest political party. This is a party built on progress, development, and the delivery of democratic dividends,” Barau stated.
