Katsina Govt Allocates ₦20 Million Per LGA for Cemetery Upkeep, Boosts Welfare of Traditional, Religious Leaders — According to IReporter Online

The Katsina State Government has approved ₦20 million for each of the state’s 34 local government areas for the renovation and maintenance of cemeteries, Governor Dikko Umaru Radda announced on Thursday.

Speaking during a meeting with traditional rulers from both the Katsina and Daura Emirates at the Government House, Radda said the initiative reflects the administration’s dedication to public welfare and spiritual responsibility.

According to IReporter Online, the governor noted that maintaining the cemeteries goes beyond physical upkeep — it also represents a spiritual gesture to seek divine favour for the state.

“We have set aside ₦20 million per local government to ensure our graveyards are well maintained. This is both a public service and a way of seeking Allah’s blessings for Katsina State,” Governor Radda said.

Additionally, the governor unveiled a comprehensive welfare package aimed at traditional and religious institutions across the state. A new law recently passed by the Katsina State House of Assembly will see all District Heads upgraded to at least Grade Level 16 in the civil service structure.

According to IReporter Online, over 6,600 ward heads will now begin receiving monthly stipends, and more than 3,000 Friday mosque Imams and their deputies across Katsina will be placed on state allowances. Furthermore, mosque sweepers working under the Izala and Darika sects in all LGAs will also be placed on monthly payroll.

The governor emphasized the state’s commitment to improving both welfare and security:

“So far, over 1,500 of our youths have undergone training and received tools to support our community security network. We believe security is a collective responsibility,” he stated.

In response, Senator Ibrahim Ida, the Wazirin Katsina, who represented Emir Abdulmumini Kabir-Usman, commended Governor Radda’s administration for its inclusive and progressive initiatives.

According to IReporter Online, the Emirate leadership expressed full support for the government’s efforts to strengthen both religious and traditional institutions while addressing community development needs.
