Former PDP Presidential Aspirant, Mohammed Hayatu-Deen Joins African Democratic Congress

According to Ireporter Online, former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential aspirant Mohammed Hayatu-Deen has officially joined the African Democratic Congress, citing concerns over Nigeria’s shrinking democratic space and worsening national challenges.

In a statement issued through his media office, Hayatu-Deen explained that his decision followed deep concerns about insecurity, rising living costs, and what he described as the gradual weakening of democratic institutions in the country. He argued that Nigerians increasingly deserve credible alternatives that can deliver security, economic stability, and job creation.

The former banker and economist noted that his entry into politics in 2022 was driven by a desire to contribute to national development, but said his expectations had since been met with disappointment due to what he described as the deteriorating political and economic environment.

He further expressed concern that opposition voices are being constrained and that democratic participation is becoming increasingly limited, stressing that Nigeria must maintain a political system that offers genuine choices for its citizens.

Hayatu-Deen added that his experience in business turnaround, economic reform, and social development initiatives would now be fully deployed in support of the ADC’s political agenda ahead of the 2027 general elections. He pledged to actively campaign for the party, insisting that it represents a viable platform for national renewal.

He concluded that his move was motivated by a commitment to help restore hope, improve governance, and push for a more stable and prosperous Nigeria.
