Fraudsters Take Over WhatsApp Of Education Chief Tahir Mamman—What You Need To Know!

The WhatsApp number of the Minister of Education, Professor Tahir Mamman, has been compromised by cybercriminals.

This information was revealed in a statement on Friday by Boriowo Folasade, the Director of Press & Public Relations at the Ministry of Education.

The statement indicated that unauthorized individuals have taken control of the Minister’s WhatsApp account and urged the public to stay alert and report any suspicious activities related to the number.

Boriowo further noted that the issue has been escalated to the appropriate authorities for investigation.

In the meantime, the public is advised to ignore any messages requesting information or assistance from the compromised number.

The statement read: “The Office of the Honourable Minister of Education, Professor Tahir Mamman, wishes to inform the general public that the Minister’s WhatsApp number has been hacked and is currently in use by unauthorized persons.

“We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and urge everyone to disregard any messages received from the number until further notice.

“The matter has been reported to the relevant authorities and is under investigation. We advise all members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.”

In related news, Minister Tahir Mamman has defended the current administration’s decision to prevent students under the age of 18 from taking the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE).

During the Inter-Ministerial Press Briefing in Abuja on Thursday, Mamman stated that the ban aligns with the nation’s laws and educational policies.

He emphasized that this policy is not new; rather, it is a continuation of legal mandates under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Mamman affirmed that starting in 2025, candidates below 18 years old will be prohibited from sitting for the SSCE, adding that over time, Nigerians will recognize the long-term benefits of this policy.
