Oshiomhole Exposes Obaseki: Claims Fraud With World Bank Funds!

Former Edo State governor, Adams Oshiomhole, has called for an investigation into the current governor, Godwin Obaseki, over alleged financial misconduct involving World Bank funds.

Oshiomhole made the demand on Thursday during the presentation of the Certificate of Return to the governor-elect, Senator Monday Okpebholo, who is set to take over from Obaseki when his second term ends on November 11.

During the event, Oshiomhole specifically urged the World Bank to scrutinize the use of a $75 million fund intended for the Edo Basic Education Sector Transformation (EdoBEST) program, accusing Obaseki of mismanaging the resources.

Expressing his satisfaction with the All Progressives Congress (APC) reclaiming Edo State after Okpebholo’s victory over Obaseki’s candidate, Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Oshiomhole said, “God has brought Okpebholo to rescue Edo people, restore integrity, rebuild our schools, and employ teachers so parents don’t have to contribute money to pay them.”

He further alleged, “All the fraud Obaseki engaged in with the so-called World Bank money needs to be investigated, especially when you have schools without teachers despite his EdoBEST initiative. He has left Edo in a worse state.”

Oshiomhole concluded by stating that Senator Okpebholo’s role is clearly defined: “Edo people eagerly await a new era of governance that is truly for the people. Coincidentally, his name, when translated to English, means ‘the rescuer.’”
