From Ruins To Refuge: Nigerian Govt Hands Over Homes To Survivors Of Bandit Attacks

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering determination to eradicate terrorism and banditry across Nigeria, stating that the fight against insecurity remains a central focus of the national security agenda.

Speaking during the commissioning of the first phase of a housing project for victims of banditry in Kaduna State, Tinubu—represented by the National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu—emphasized that restoring peace and stability in affected regions is non-negotiable.

The event marked a significant milestone in the Federal Government’s broader resettlement initiative, which aims to provide relief and permanent housing for communities ravaged by violent attacks.

The housing scheme, executed in partnership with the Qatar Charity Organisation, is part of a long-term strategy to rehabilitate internally displaced persons and rebuild fractured communities.

Tinubu stated that positive changes are already unfolding across Kaduna State, with displaced families beginning to return to their ancestral lands and local economies, such as farming and trading, showing signs of revival.

He highlighted the Kaduna Peace Model as a pioneering approach to sustainable peacebuilding through grassroots intelligence, dialogue, and reconciliation.

Tinubu also referenced the reopening of key economic hubs like the Birnin Gwari Market and the resurgence of agricultural activity as tangible indicators of progress, “this is a public declaration that Kaduna is wearing a new face—a face of hope, rebuilding, and recovery,” he stated.
