According to Ireporter Online, Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has announced that the 2026 Appropriation Bill will be presented at the newly reconstructed Rivers State House of Assembly Complex, which is expected to be completed by December. The governor gave the assurance on Monday after inspecting the ongoing construction work at the site.

Fubara expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work, noting that the main contractor, MCC, has handed over the interior finishing to Julius Berger to speed up delivery. He emphasized that the return of lawmakers to the permanent complex is crucial, especially now that political tensions in the state have eased. Legislators have been conducting plenary sessions from a temporary chamber within their residential quarters.

The governor noted that while the Speaker will oversee the remaining work on the undamaged section of the old complex, the state government remains committed to completing the major reconstruction needed for full legislative activities to resume.

Fubara stated that he is confident the new facility will be ready before the end of December, reaffirming his intention to present the 2026 budget in the main chamber. He described the forthcoming presentation as one that should take place in a dignified and proper setting befitting the state.
