Ganduje Alleges Governor Yusuf And North Central Figures Behind Protests Against Him In Abuja

Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has accused Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and other individuals from the North Central Zone of orchestrating protests against him in Abuja. In a statement released on Friday by his Special Assistant on Civil Society and Support Groups, Okpokwu Ogenyi, Ganduje alleged that the Kano State government had been mobilizing protesters, mainly members of the Kwankwasiyya movement, some of whom hailed from the North Central zone, to demand his resignation.

Expressing concern over the use of state resources for political purposes, Ganduje called on security agencies to remain vigilant in safeguarding lives and property. He revealed that some of the hired protesters were seen wearing Kwankwasiyya T-shirts and caps during a demonstration at the APC national secretariat.

The statement highlighted the collaboration between Governor Yusuf and individuals from the North Central zone, alleging that they had been provided with significant funds to sustain the campaign against Ganduje’s leadership within the APC. Ganduje characterized these actions as a desperate attempt to remove him from his position as national chairman, emphasizing the misuse of state resources in pursuit of political agendas.

Ganduje criticized the hired protesters for their contradictory actions, noting their affiliation with the Kwankwasiyya movement while claiming to be APC members. He condemned this as a dangerous tactic aimed at destabilizing the peace within the party.
