Goat Eye Activated As Obaseki Gives Philip Shaibu Leg Over, Bars Him From Getting An Inch Closer: Matters Arising

Allow me to recount the story of “Goat Eye activated” once more for the sake of this article. You see, there was a time when we were young, and one of my uncles asked his nephew to assist him in holding the Christmas goat, which the family had worked hard to buy for the festive season.

This particular uncle had what we call “half past one eye” or, in local terms, “Half Past 4 eyes.” He instructed the nephew to hold the goat’s neck so that he could proceed with the customary act of slaughtering the goat.

As he raised his cutlass high, the boy noticed his uncle’s peculiar eyes. These eyes were “Half Past 4 eyes,” and from the boy’s perspective, they appeared to be focused on his own neck instead of the goat. Puzzled, the boy questioned his uncle, “Uncle, na where you dey look you wan cut?

The uncle said yes, raising the cutlass even higher. Perceiving the eyes fixed on his own neck once more, the boy exclaimed, “UNCLE, you sure say na where you dey look you wan cut ?

The uncle affirmed his purpose once again. Consequently, the boy dropped the goat and fled, believing that his uncle was targeting his neck instead of the goat’s. To summarize the tale, that’s how the goat managed to escape that year, leaving the family without a Christmas goat to flex the season.

So, when we mention “Goat Eye activated,” we mean to say “ON GUARD.” This is the current state of affairs between Obaseki and his deputy, Philip Shaibu. Yesterday  during the thanksgiving service commemorating the 32nd anniversary of the establishment of Edo State, Obaseki directed his security personnel not to allow Philip to approach him.

Recall that Obaseki had accused Philip of plotting a coup against him. In local terms, such individuals are labeled “saboteurs” or simply “SABO.” It’s noteworthy that even in a church setting, Obaseki didn’t want to be near Philip.

Look at the cover image and the arrow pointing to Obaseki’s eyes: observe the eyes as Philip approached him. Try to discern the question racing through Obaseki’s mind. In all likelihood, Obaseki’s inner monologue would be, “Na me Philip dey waka come meet me so ?” ON GUARD.

Despite the mounting tensions between Philip Shaibu and his superior, Obaseki, Philip maintains that his loyalty to Obaseki remains unwavering. However, the situation is akin to a blazing fire atop a mountain. Even within the sanctuary of a church, where forgiveness is typically sought, the two individuals are unable to find common ground. Rumors have circulated that Philip Shaibu has been stripped of his office within the Government House.

The way Philip’s case has progressed in the ongoing dispute between him and Obaseki, it has become an issue of fuel subsidy, or “OTILOR.”….IT’S GONE.
