Gov Yusuf Joins Forces With Religious Leaders To Combat Drug Abuse And Thuggery In Kano

Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has forged a strategic partnership with the Imams of the 44 local government area Jummaat Mosques in Kano to tackle the pressing issues of drug abuse, phone theft, and political violence.

Recognizing the urgency of addressing moral decay in society, Governor Yusuf emphasized the importance of collective action beyond governmental efforts during a stakeholders’ meeting at Government House Kano. He urged religious leaders to focus on instilling values of responsibility and integrity, particularly among the youth.

In his address, Governor Yusuf emphasized the pivotal role of religious leaders in restoring Kano’s dignity and preserving its cultural heritage. He called on them to utilize their platforms to advocate for righteousness, steering clear of political affiliations.

With over 24 million residents in Kano, a significant portion being youth, Governor Yusuf highlighted the vulnerabilities faced by young people and stressed the need for protection against various forms of misconduct. He urged religious leaders to address issues such as drug abuse, adultery, robbery, and phone snatching, contributing to the efforts to uplift the community.

Governor Yusuf assured the religious leaders of the government’s commitment to providing educational opportunities, skill development, and employment prospects for the youth. He called for collaboration between the government and religious institutions to effectively address societal challenges and pave the way for a brighter future for Kano.
