Simmons commended Biden’s leadership, saying, “Joe Biden has been a phenomenal president and fulfilled so many promises. There’s one more promise he could keep—as a transitional figure—by stepping down and making Kamala Harris president within the next 30 days.”

He suggested this move could strategically counter former President Donald Trump’s influence, allowing Harris to take the historic role and potentially ease the path for future female leaders.

In response to host Dana Bash’s question about Harris’s potential nomination to the Supreme Court, Simmons reaffirmed his stance, emphasizing Biden’s unique position to create this historic moment. He argued that this would allow Harris to become the 47th president and possibly shift the dynamics surrounding future female candidates.

This suggestion follows the recent U.S. presidential election, where former President Trump defeated Harris in key swing states, securing his path to a second term. Trump is set to be inaugurated as the 47th President of the United States in January 2025.
