In a brief statement shared on the X platform, Governor Obaseki warmly welcomed Godwins into the government fold, expressing his humility at the appointment. He underscored the significance of having a youthful figure like Godwins in a leadership role, highlighting the belief in the capacity of the youth to contribute to Edo State’s development.

The appointment of Godwins follows the impeachment of Philip Shaibu by the Edo State Assembly, based on allegations of misconduct. Godwins subsequently assumed the role of Deputy Governor, taking his oath of office administered by the Edo State Chief Judge in the presence of Governor Obaseki.

Omobayo Marvellous Godwins, a 38-year-old politician from Akoko-Edo Local Government in Edo North, now assumes the responsibilities of the Deputy Governorship in Edo State.
