Historic Moment: Warri Refinery Resumes Operations Under Tinubu’s Leadership

O’tega Ogra, the Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on New Media, has revealed that the Warri Refinery officially resumed operations on Saturday, December 28, 2024. Ogra commended Mele Kyari, the Group CEO of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPCL), for his role in reviving the refinery.

The Warri Refinery’s Area I Crude Distillation Unit (CDU) restarted at 12:25 PM on Saturday, and by December 30, the commissioning process was completed, with the refinery beginning the load-out of Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) from its loading bay.

Currently operating at 60% capacity, the 125,000 barrels-per-day refinery is producing Straight Run Kerosene, Automotive Gas Oil, Low Pour Fuel Oil, and Heavy & Light Naphtha. It is expected to produce 166,000 liters of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) daily, along with 1.8 million liters of Straight-Run Kerosene (equivalent to 40 trucks daily) and 3.1 million liters of Automotive Gas Oil (equivalent to 70 trucks daily).
