Hong Town in Adamawa Hit by Devastating Floods for the Second Time in a Week
Heavy flooding has once again hit Hong town, the headquarters of Hong Local Government Area (LGA) in Adamawa State. This marks the third significant flood in the state in under three weeks, following earlier flooding in the state capital, Yola, on July 27, and another in Dugwaba district of Hong LGA on August 6.
Eyewitnesses reported that homes, farmlands, and other properties were submerged as rivers and drainage channels overflowed following intense rainfall. Several communities were affected, displacing hundreds of residents from their homes and businesses.
Authorities confirmed that, as of Wednesday evening, no fatalities had been recorded. The flooding underscores the growing vulnerability of Adamawa communities to seasonal heavy rains and river overflows.
