Goodluck Jonathan bags doctorate at Bowen University 1

According to Ireporter Online, the Deputy National Youth Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Timothy Osadolor, has said that former President Goodluck Jonathan is not the party’s only viable option ahead of the 2027 presidential election. Speaking in an interview, Osadolor defended Jonathan’s long absence from PDP activities, saying the former leader was likely influenced by the circumstances surrounding his exit from office in 2015, including alleged internal sabotage by senior party figures.

While acknowledging that Jonathan may have “shirked certain responsibilities,” Osadolor maintained that the former president still deserves full respect and recognition. He stressed that the party should not dwell on past grievances but instead foster unity and embrace all potential allies, including former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, in order to reclaim national prominence.

Osadolor alleged that certain PDP members, including Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, were backing Jonathan’s possible candidacy because they viewed him as easier to market to the electorate. However, he emphasized that PDP’s future does not rest solely on Jonathan’s shoulders, citing Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde as another strong contender with a proven record of promoting the party and delivering effective governance.

He concluded that while wooing Jonathan is a positive step, the PDP must keep its options open and rally all available political assets to strengthen its chances in 2027.
