APC Fires Back at Aregbesola: “Your Words Are a Betrayal of Trust”

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has issued a scathing response to remarks by former Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, describing his recent criticism of the ruling party as a betrayal of trust.

According to Ireporter Online, Aregbesola, who now serves as Interim National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), had told residents of Kosofe Local Government Area to reject the APC, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and the Labour Party (LP) in the 2027 general elections, insisting that the parties had collectively failed the nation. He urged Nigerians to embrace the ADC’s promise of a “new deal.”

Reacting to the statement, Lagos APC spokesperson, Seye Oladejo, accused Aregbesola of political opportunism, stressing that the former governor of Osun State benefited immensely from the APC’s platform for over two decades—rising from a commissioner in Lagos to a federal minister. Oladejo argued that if the APC had indeed failed, Aregbesola must also accept responsibility for his role in governance rather than distancing himself for “cheap political relevance.”

Oladejo maintained that the APC in Lagos remains focused on delivering democratic dividends and would not be distracted by “theatrics or sudden political conversions.” While welcoming constructive criticism, he rejected what he described as “falsehoods and political showmanship” aimed at misleading the public.
