According to Ireporter Online, Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has vowed to intensify the fight against banditry, promising tougher measures to bring perpetrators of recent attacks to justice. His remarks followed a fresh wave of violence in Kauran Namoda Local Government Area, where bandits targeted several communities, leaving residents in grief and fear.

During a visit on Wednesday to the affected towns of Banga, Sakajiki, Kuryar Madaro, Maguru, and Tambarawa, the governor condemned the killings, describing them as the work of enemies of peace bent on destabilizing the state. Lawal, who had been away when the latest attacks occurred, said he immediately directed the Deputy Governor to lead a high-level delegation to console victims. Upon returning to Gusau, he made it a priority to assess the destruction and sympathize with families of those affected.

“May Allah expose and shame those responsible for these brutal attacks and senseless killings,” the governor declared, urging citizens to remain steadfast in prayers for lasting peace. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to deploying fresh strategies and strengthening partnerships to end the cycle of violence.

The Emir of Kauran Namoda, Sunusi Ahmad, commended Lawal for his prompt visit and dedication to addressing the escalating insecurity, saying such actions were deeply valued by the affected communities.
