Hours To Tribunal Judgement, Cleric Sends Coup Message To Tinubu
A suggestion has been put forward for President Bola Tinubu to take a leadership role within the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) by addressing and combatting the underlying causes of coup d’état occurrences in Africa. This recommendation encourages a shift away from the inclination to threaten military action following the collapse of democracy in member states.
Prophet Solomon Adegboyega Alao, the esteemed leader of the Cherubim and Seraphim Unification Church of Nigeria, offered this counsel through a statement. He asserted that the lives of Nigerian soldiers should not be put at risk to prop up sub-regional leaders who have, in some cases, disregarded the principles of civil governance in their respective nations.

In light of recent military interventions in Niger and Gabon, the cleric advised ECOWAS to prioritize prevention of military takeovers rather than merely addressing the aftermath of poor governance and disrespect for the rule of law exhibited by some African leaders.
Alao underscored a critical lesson for Nigeria, highlighting that any government failing to adhere to court rulings or manipulating the electoral process invites the potential for a coup. He emphasized that upholding the rule of law and fostering good governance are the most effective means to maintain stability.
The leader of the C & S Church urged President Tinubu to introspect on the promises made to the Nigerian people as he marks his first 100 days in office. Alao criticized the impact of fuel subsidy removal, describing it as a burden on citizens. He noted that the distribution of palliatives had been mishandled, with benefits disproportionately favoring members of the ruling political parties in several states.
Alao recommended that the most meaningful palliative measures should include reductions in school fees and utility bills, asserting that the mere distribution of rice is not only undignified but also ineffective in achieving desired outcomes. He called upon the current administration to introduce policies aimed at curbing inflation rather than focusing solely on salary increases for workers, suggesting that alternative measures could be implemented to enhance the quality of life for the populace.
