How Highlife Legend Mike Ejeagha Died – Son Reveals Final Moments
Mike Ejeagha was a towering figure in Nigerian highlife music, with a career spanning over six decades. Celebrated for his unique blend of music and Igbo folklore, he was known for embedding proverbs, cultural values, and moral teachings into his songs — such as the popular tracks “Gwo gwo gwo ngwo” and “Ka Esi Le Onye Isi Oche.”
His influence was deeply felt in the 1980s and beyond, making him a cherished cultural ambassador in Eastern Nigeria.
In 2024, Ejeagha witnessed a remarkable resurgence in popularity when comedian Brain Jotter used his 1983 song “Ka Esi Le Onye Isi Oche” in a viral skit. The skit sparked a global dance challenge, introducing Ejeagha’s music to a younger, international audience.
