How Nigerian Army Rescues Kidnapped Kuriga Students In Zamfara–Military

According to a statement released by Major General Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media Operations, the operation resulted in the liberation of 137 hostages, consisting of 76 females and 61 males. These students were abducted on March 7, 2024, from LEA School Kuriga in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The coordinated search and rescue effort, executed in the early hours of March 24, 2024, culminated in the hostages’ safe recovery in Zamfara State. Subsequently, they will be conveyed and handed over to the Kaduna State Government for further actions.

Additionally, the statement highlights a separate rescue operation in Gada Local Government Area of Sokoto State, where 16 pupils (Almajiris) and a woman were liberated from captivity. These individuals have been transferred to the Sokoto State Government.

Major General Buba reiterated the military’s commitment to tracking down criminals responsible for heinous acts, including the recent killing of soldiers in Delta State. He assured that justice would prevail as efforts intensify to arrest, prosecute, and punish all perpetrators according to Nigerian law.
