How Ododo Emerged As APC Candidate – Gov Yahaya Bello Opens Up

Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State shed light on how Usman Ododo emerged as the gubernatorial flagbearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

He also assured the people that Ododo, the APC candidate, will exceed his own accomplishments as the state governor.

Speaking during a two-day workshop for journalists in Abuja, Bello emphasized that Ododo garnered support from a majority of APC members due to his unwavering commitment to improve the lives of the state’s residents.

The governor highlighted instances where Ododo positively impacted people’s lives without seeking recognition.

Bello also clarified that there is no blood relation between him and the APC candidate. He affirmed that Ododo was the preferred choice of the majority within the APC.

“Ododo won his election overwhelmingly during the primary election. He is a very compassionate person. He endeared himself to the Kogi people,” Bello stated. “He is the popular candidate. How can the popular candidate instigate insecurity in an election that is most positioned to win.”

He further emphasized his administration’s commitment to inclusivity, transcending ethnic, religious, and regional affiliations. Bello assured that the forthcoming election on November 11 would be characterized by fairness, peace, and credibility.

Addressing the recent incidents of violence in the state, Governor Bello affirmed that the police and other security agencies are effectively managing the situation. He warned against any attempts to incite violence, particularly by politicians, urging them to prioritize peace.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, Navy Commander (Rtd) Jerry Omodare, underscored the transformation in Kogi State’s security landscape. He credited Governor Yahaya Bello for shifting the state’s image from one associated with insecurity to being recognized as one of the most peaceful states in Nigeria.
