Breaking: Kwankwaso ‘Climbs Down From High Horse’—Wants To Be Peter Obi’s Running Mate In 2027

According to Naija News, Kwankwaso recently hinted at his conditional interest in the role, stating in a video shared on his official account that he would consider the position under certain terms. Speaking in Hausa, the former Kano State governor highlighted his political stature, saying, “I am politically bigger than Peter Obi. I am his elder brother, hold a PhD, and performed better as a governor. I have no problem being his deputy, but only if certain conditions are met.”

Kwankwaso also indicated his willingness to engage in discussions with Obi, provided there is mutual trust.

In response to this, LP’s National Secretary, Umar Farouk, described Kwankwaso’s move as a positive development in an interview with Punch. However, he urged Kwankwaso to refrain from undermining the potential alliance by focusing on his perceived superiority in education and politics.

Farouk said, “As a political party, we stand for good governance and encourage our candidates to form alliances with like-minded individuals who share the LP’s philosophy. We are pleased that Kwankwaso has come down from the high horse he was riding and is now open to being Obi’s deputy, recognizing that Obi secured over six million votes in the 2023 election while Kwankwaso, despite his Northern popularity, managed less than two million.”

He added, “Kwankwaso should let go of the notion of being a bigger politician and PhD holder. What did he even achieve as Minister of Defence? Politicians must understand the changing dynamics and gauge public sentiment over time.”

Farouk concluded by noting that while a potential Obi-Kwankwaso partnership could benefit Nigerians in the effort to unseat the APC, the current government will not make it easy for such a merger to succeed.
