I Came Out Of Wura Poorer’ — Nollywood Actor Lanre Adediwura Opens Up
Nollywood actor Lanre Adediwura has opened up about his experience on the MultiChoice television drama series Wura, alleging that his participation in the production left him financially strained and restricted his career opportunities.
According to Ireporter Online, the actor made the revelation during an interview on TVC Entertainment, where he explained that he turned down the opportunity to return to the series due to his earlier experience on set. He claimed that despite the visibility the role brought him, it did not translate into financial gain, adding that he ended up spending more than he earned while on the project.
He further stated that the demanding 11-month shooting schedule limited his ability to take on other acting jobs that could have improved his financial situation and career growth. According to him, he was contractually discouraged from engaging in other productions during the period, which he said cost him several opportunities in the industry.
The actor also revealed that after exiting the series, he faced a difficult financial period that lasted several months, noting that he relied on YouTube-based productions to regain stability. He argued that while the role gave him visibility, the production arrangements did not fulfill earlier expectations made during negotiations.
He added that he had contributed creative elements and character nuances to the show which, according to him, are still being used, suggesting that his influence on the production remains visible. He also referenced missing out on other major projects during that time, including an opportunity tied to the film “House of Gaa,” where he said he was involved in translation work and initially considered for a role.
He maintained that he does not anticipate any legal disputes arising from his comments, insisting that his contributions to the production are still evident in the final work.
