INEC Portal: APC Uploads Uzodimma, Buni, Others’ Details, Sets Date For Tinubu, Running Mate

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed confidence that it will meet the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) July 11 deadline for the submission of its presidential and National Assembly candidates for the 2027 general elections.

According to Ireporter Online, the ruling party has made significant progress in uploading the details of its candidates to the INEC nomination portal, with the process said to be in its final stages. A senior official within the party, who spoke anonymously, disclosed that the information of President Bola Tinubu and his running mate is expected to be uploaded before the middle of the week.

The party official noted that the APC has continued to upload the details of its National Assembly candidates without setbacks and remains optimistic about completing the entire process before the electoral commission’s deadline.

Sources familiar with activities at the APC’s Information and Communications Technology Department at the Muhammadu Buhari House national secretariat in Abuja revealed that the technical team has maintained uninterrupted access to the INEC portal. The sources added that details of several principal officers of the 10th National Assembly, alongside many serving federal lawmakers, have already been successfully uploaded.

Among those whose details have reportedly been submitted are four serving governors—AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State, Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State, Hope Uzodimma of Imo State and Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State. The governors are among prominent APC leaders who secured the party’s senatorial tickets ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The ongoing submission exercise follows an internal review of the APC’s primary elections after the party received hundreds of petitions from dissatisfied aspirants challenging the outcome of the primaries. Following the review, the National Working Committee approved changes to its list of candidates, removing six senatorial candidates and 19 House of Representatives candidates who had initially emerged from the party’s May primaries.

The adjustments affected constituencies across Abia, Kogi, Taraba, Benue, Ebonyi, Ondo, Kaduna, Niger and Kwara states. The substitutions were made based on recommendations submitted by the APC Primary Election Appeal Committee.

The revised list was subsequently transmitted to INEC through a letter jointly signed by the party’s National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, and the National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru.

APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka disclosed that the party received more than 700 petitions from aggrieved members following the conclusion of its primary elections. He explained that the leadership carefully reviewed the complaints and implemented necessary adjustments where appropriate, while candidates whose victories were upheld during the appeal process retained their tickets.

Morka, however, declined to announce when the party’s final list of candidates would be released publicly, stressing that the immediate priority is to ensure all approved candidates properly complete and submit their INEC Form EC9 nomination documents for upload before the commission’s deadline.

Despite the changes resulting from the appeal process, several influential APC leaders, including serving governors seeking election to the Senate in 2027, have retained their party tickets as preparations intensify ahead of the general elections.
