INSECURITY: Moses Omo-Ikirodah Calls On youths To Take Advantage Of the Upcoming Voters Registration
Abuja: Engineer Moses Omo-Ikirodah has charged Nigerian youths to take advantage of the upcoming continuous voter’s registration exercise to effect the required changes they desire in the affairs of the nation.
Decrying the worrisome spate of insecurity pervading the country the Edo State politician called for collective efforts by the youths to register to vote and ensure their votes put in the right Nigerians in all elective positions, starting from the local councillor to the presidency.
According to him, the security challenges faced today is the main issue threatening the survival of Nigeria.
“It is unfortunate that government right from the grassroots to the very Apex has failed in securing the lives and properties of Nigerians thereby making its citizens vulnerable to kidnappers, armed bandits, gangsters, deadly cultist and under unscrupulous elements.
Exercising your right to vote is more relevant now than ever in Nigeria and only by participating in the process can the required changes we long sought be actualized.
The youths who fortunately make over 60 % of the voting population can make a change with their votes as all votes counts and matters. It is important we register to vote when eligible as only then can we vote the favourite candidate we feel can be able to deliver the dividends of democracy.
Staying idle and doing nothing would not stop the oligarchy of power snatchers from exercising their own rights to vote. We must register and ensure only competent leaders are elected into positions of authority.
With the insecurity threatening us as a Nation and the threat of succession, only the right votes for competent leaders would save us as a Nation.
It is very sad that young Nigerians neglect the importance of voting when their voice is needed to effect the required changes in the polity. It is unfortunate that this same young population are the first victims of maladministration in all level of governance.
Giving excuses is not enough as all votes count, Youth voters who want to motivate change need to show their support for the contestants whom they feel best to represent their needs. Come to think of it no one would vote in the interest of the young people unless the young ones.”
Calling on the youths to take advantage of the upcoming voter’s registration exercise the youthful politician reiterated that their vote does matter, so much so that the collective “youth vote” could actually sway the election.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), says it will begin another round of voter registration any moment from now.
