The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, lauded the unwavering commitment to justice exhibited by SP Rilwan Kasumu and his team, as revealed by Police Force PRO, Olumuyiwa Adejobi.

According to reports, the breakthrough occurred on February 6, 2024, when the police team apprehended Esther Newman Obiekezie, alias Candy, at her residence on No 6, Mojirade Street, Ilogbo Lagos, uncovering a significant stash of the illicit substance known as ICE, alongside AK47 live ammunition.

However, the plot thickened during the subsequent investigation, as Akete Esther, 43, and Oke Okebalam, 49, attempted to secure the release of Esther Newman Obiekezie at the Ijanikin police station. In a brazen attempt to obstruct justice, they offered a staggering ₦4 million bribe and implored the police to turn a blind eye to Esther’s illicit drug peddling activities.

In a resolute stance against corruption, SP Rilwan Kasumu and his team swiftly rejected the bribe, seizing the illicit cash and preserving it as crucial evidence in the ongoing investigation.
