In a statement released by Professor Khalid Abubakar Aliyu, the Secretary General of JNI, Muslims are encouraged to intensify their efforts in giving alms to the less fortunate, including the poor, orphans, and the handicapped in society.
The statement emphasized the significance of Zakatul Fitr, the ordained food or almsgiving at the end of Ramadan fasting, which should be distributed to the needy in the last three days of Ramadan or on Eid-el-Fitr day before the Eid prayer commences.
Under the leadership of His Eminence, the Sultan of Sokoto and President-General, JNI seeks divine facilitation for the successful observance of the remaining days of Ramadan. Muslims are urged to deepen their understanding of the Qur’an and live according to its teachings, aiming to attain Taqwa, the objective of fasting.
The statement underscores the importance of daily obligatory prayers, Tarawih, and Tahajjud, urging Muslims to sustain these practices during Ramadan and beyond. Additionally, Muslims are implored to increase acts of kindness and almsgiving, particularly to those facing economic hardship.
JNI reiterates its call for intensified prayers for Nigeria, seeking Allah’s intervention to combat economic recession, poverty, hunger, and insecurity plaguing the nation.
As Muslims prepare for Ramadan, JNI’s message serves as a timely reminder to prioritize spiritual growth, charity, and supplication during this blessed month.
