Jonathan Refutes Alleged Endorsement Of Tinubu 2027 Re-Election Bid

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has categorically denied reports suggesting he endorsed President Bola Tinubu for re-election in the 2027 presidential race.

In a statement released by his Media Office, Jonathan distanced himself from an online publication titled “Tinubu will win 2027 presidential election – Goodluck Jonathan,” which has been widely circulated on social media. The report further alleged that Jonathan made the remarks during a visit to Seoul, South Korea, where he was honoured with the 2025 Sunhak Peace Prize.

However, Jonathan’s Special Adviser, Ikechukwu Eze, swiftly debunked the claims, clarifying that the former president made no such statement and did not speak with any journalist about the 2027 elections.

A post from Jonathan’s Media Office on Wednesday via Facebook reinforced this position, describing the report as a fabrication designed to mislead the public.

“The attention of the Media Office of His Excellency Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan (President, Federal Republic of Nigeria, 2010–2015) has been drawn to a piece of false information with the above title, currently circulating on social media,” the statement read.

It further characterized the report as “fake news fabricated by agents of disinformation,” emphasizing that Dr. Jonathan remains committed to factual, responsible communication.

The statement concluded by urging the public to disregard the misleading claims, reaffirming that at no time did the former president make comments regarding the 2027 elections.
