The call comes amid allegations of harassment and intimidation. The community claims the judge has been working with certain individuals to unlawfully seize fish ponds legally owned by Doorshima under the Sarkin Kudu Chiefdom.

Allegations of Misconduct

Speaking in Jalingo on Wednesday, community spokesperson Istifanus Moses accused Judge Muhammad of making life unbearable. He alleged that the judge disregarded directives from the National Boundary Commission, the Taraba State Boundary Commission, and the Bureau for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, which affirmed the original demarcation of River Benue.

On January 11, 2025, the judge reportedly ordered the arrest of the Doorshima Ward Head, Mallam Ibrahim, who was detained for a day at the Ibi Police Station before his release, facilitated by local government chairman Iliya Jibu.

Moses further claimed the judge ignored the community’s explanations about being prevented from attending court due to restrictions imposed by influential figures in Ibi Chiefdom.

Judge Denies Allegations

In response, Judge Saidu Muhammad dismissed the accusations, stating he acted on a complaint filed by Alih Buhari over disputed fish ponds. He clarified that arrest warrants were issued after the community failed to honor court summons, which he said was standard legal procedure.

Community Outcry

The residents view these actions as deliberate intimidation and an abuse of judicial power, calling for the immediate removal of the judge to restore public confidence in the judiciary.
