In an official statement, the ministry clarified that the actual expenditure amounted to ₦2.4 billion. Dr. Bala Salisu Zango, the state’s Commissioner for Information and Culture, dismissed the report as false and misleading. He emphasized that the funds were earmarked for a comprehensive five-year program that covers students’ tuition fees, accommodation, books, living allowances, residence permits, and airfare.

“This initiative, led by Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, is a vital step toward addressing the critical shortage of medical professionals in Katsina and strengthening the state’s healthcare infrastructure,” Dr. Zango stated.

He further highlighted that the selection process for the scholarship recipients was thorough, ensuring representation from all 34 local government areas of Katsina State.

The ministry has demanded that the media outlet retract its misleading report immediately, warning that legal action will be pursued if a correction is not issued. “Misinformation undermines public trust and disrupts meaningful discourse. Responsible reporting is crucial,” the statement concluded.
