Katung, Shehu Sani, And Yero Secure Kaduna APC Senate Tickets

According to Ireporter Online, former Senator Sunday Katung, Shehu Sani, and former Kaduna State Governor, Ramalan Yero, have emerged winners of the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primaries in Kaduna State ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In Kaduna South, Katung secured the party’s ticket after polling 7,453 votes, defeating former Senator Danjuma Tella Laah, who scored 1,370 votes, and Michael Ayuba Auta, who garnered 878 votes. The Returning Officer for the exercise in Jema’a Local Government Area, John Laah, declared the process peaceful and credible, noting that delegates from Kagarko, Sanga, Kauru, Zangon Kataf, Kaura, Jema’a, Jaba, and Kachia participated in the exercise.

In Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani clinched the APC senatorial ticket with 9,105 votes, defeating Yusuf Zailani, who polled 1,021 votes. Yerima Shettima, who had earlier withdrawn from the contest, still recorded 1,253 votes in the exercise. In his reaction, Sani expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu and Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, while calling on party members to remain united ahead of the general elections.

In Kaduna North, former Governor Ramalan Yero secured the party’s ticket after scoring 6,060 votes to defeat Muazu Mukaddas, who polled 1,044 votes, and Bala Ikara, who received 362 votes.

However, the primaries were not without controversy, as some aggrieved aspirants, led by Danjuma Laah, protested the outcome, alleging irregularities and the imposition of consensus candidates.
