In addition to the government warehouse, a broken-down truck carrying assorted grains meant for distribution in Birnin Kebbi was also looted by the hoodlums. These incidents occurred against the backdrop of a prevailing cost-of-living crisis attributed to the removal of petrol subsidies and the fluctuation of the naira.

According to Muhammadu Gwadangwaji, the Chairman of the food vendors association at Bayan Kara Market, some shops and warehouses belonging to traders were set ablaze by youths during the unrest. He estimated the value of distributed grains to exceed N5 billion, emphasizing that the stolen goods belonged to the citizens of Kebbi State.
